How to be a successful business development assistant?

I just got this job, however, I didn't work this position in some previous companies before, especially in construction industry. Thus, i am quiet confusing. Could you share to me some advice or experiences of yourself? and, which elements or steps I need to learn to overcome challenges at staring point of new industry?
