If limitting the ranking on biz networking events (i.e. we come there for networking with people), I choose quality of audience, but want to add one thing - quality of organisers. A good organiser knows how to bring qualified audience to the event, and know how to encourage audience more participating into the networking activities.

My highest rank is Other - Format: What I mean by format is how your organize the audience. For example an event could start with a key note speaker. Someone who provides thought provoking topics. Then follow that by the audience breaking into groups of 8 to 10 people around round tables with each table being assigned a question to address. The people at the table discuss and at the end of this session they pick someone at the table to stand up and explain to the audience how they addressed the question. Then take a 15 minute break. This allows the audience to get to know each other at the tables and then use the break for a free flowing conversations. You can do this in an evening or if it is a day long session you can repeat it through the day so the audience has an opportunity to network while participating in the discussions. It is good to also state up front what will take place and suggest that the audience get to know one another. I have also been to day long events where they coordinate dinners at night so groups of six to ten go out together.
I don't think venue maters too much as long as there is plenty space. The topic should be forward thinking so that it engenders discussion and ideas. The speaker should be engaging though the host/master of ceremonies is more important than the speaker. The MC can keep the event going even with an un-engaging speaker. I think a diverse audience is good. It is great to have young minds and old experiences learning from one another.
