    I agree it is service in two dimensions -- first part of service is consistency. Customers should be treated the same way each and every moment of every day. Training the staff in every phase of the customer experience is important.

    The second part of services is design. You can think about design in everything the customer experiences. When they enter the hotel how do they proceed to the front desk, how are they greeted, staff uniforms, floral arrangements, hotel rooms, etc. There are small things in design that can improve the appearance and usefulness of hotels.

    I originally at the start of this thought cleanliness but that would fall under service.
