In my opinion, the traits of leader must have or must be trained are included intelligence, motivation, honesty, integrity, self-confidence, knowledge of the business and charisma. Besides, I think leaders must treat each employee politely and friendly, don't be rude or arrogance or discrimination. Leaders also must show their acceptance (listening) , considerate toward employee; positive attitude and self confidence when making decision. I strongly believe that the employee needs the support and the share of sympathy when they are anxious or upset. Leaders must be there to provide the assistance when needed or willing to help for personal problems. To be calm and patient when deal with employee. To be a good listener is so important because it's the way makes employee feeling that leaders care for them. These such are few things I experienced and I would like to share with you folks for this subject. Because many more things must be trained or invested to build up on the way becoming a good leader.

Leaders lead people. Good leaders need to know how to communicate their vision simply and clearly. They are the ones to deliver important business objectives into terms through which staff can understand 'what's in it for me?' In response, the staff can be engaged, align their actions accordingly and work towards an organization success. With effective communication, leaders can motivate and influence others to work for a common purpose. To me, it's positive thinking. Having a “can do” and positive attitude is critical to profesional and personal success. And on the way to becoming a good leader, you even need it more. There're good news and bad news about attitude: a negative attitude is like a cancer and can easily spread to your team and organization. And the good news is .... a positive attitude is infectious too :)

Developing interpersonal skills. Those would include simple things like making eye contact and shaking hands but others such as being polite, opening conversations with people you don't know, socializing at events, developing long lasting relationships even if you do not see talk to the other individual often. IT seems that those are things we do not learn in college and our employers usually don't develop for us. Most colleges and employers have us develop technical skills and may provide some classes on interpersonal sills. However, interpersonal skills need to be developed in every part of our lives. We all know that to perfect something like this we need to practice every day and learn as we develop these skills.

In many case, you hear but not fully listen to the person because you are busy listening to your own inner chat. Good leader need to develop the skill / habit of pure listening, so that he can have the most clear-sighted decision on what action really required.-

According to me, that habit is " the Patience ". After read all the answers above i didn't see anyone mention about this habit.
Ofcouse only Patient is not enough for a good leader, but it's one of the habit you should think about it first. The patient people is the person who never give up when they meet the difficult thing, they will try their best to find the way to overcome those difficulties.
