How can you change an existing culture to a new culture in the workplace?
Dear Mr. Hariharan,
I have a concern which I believe also is a concern of every HR Manager in any corporation for how to change an existing workplace's culture? And should a corporation focus on internal branding or employer branding? Which one is a primary option?
As Amazon’s founder, Jeff Bezos, asserts: “One of things you find in companies is that once a culture is formed it takes nuclear weaponry to change it”.

Dear Vu Hoang!
I understand your concern. Culture change starts from within and it is a journey. There should be commitment from the “top”. It has to percolate down the line. There is no magic wand and you cannot get any immediate results. The organization should be consistent and communicate in one language.-

Dear Vu Hoang,
Refering to your concern, I think when a corporation focus on internal branding, it will eventually influence/impact employer branding due to word of mouth of the internal employees. No point to have a good marketing image on employer branding but it is otherwise when people join the corporation and left with disappointment and bad word of mouth.
Hope my little thoughts help.. ;)
Best Regards,
Nick Cheng-

Dear Nick Cheng,
Yes, I understand the difficult of changing a culture in the corporation. When it is formed it takes time to change it. Some how it would change to the way that it should not be changed. That is what I concerned. I agree with Mr. Hariharan that it must be a commitment from the "top" and the corporation should be communicate as an unique. I also agree with Nick Cheng that a primary option should be internal branding. The corporation should start changing from inside to outside.
Because a strong corporation culture serves several purposes. I believe it will direct employee' efforts and helps everyone work toward the same goals. So, the corporation must define a corporation's culture from the beginning day. If a corporation needs to change its culture, a new culture must be clear so the people can easily accept behaviors. Besides, a corporation must also communicate the change to existing staffs, newcomers, and customers. This will help them quickly learn to accept the new culture's behaviors.-
