Self-control is vital to our success. However, it is a limited resource and not easy for many people to clearly understand their selves. When you've been tightly controlling yourself, you would become more likely to give in to temptation.
@ Herbert White: How much percentage do you surely understand about your self ?
Our humans’ minds are mainly controlled by the unconscious part which mysteriously occupies 9 /10 in mind and the only 1 part of conscious. All aspects of people’s personalities show with regular habits guided by the unconscious mind. We seem to understand our own personalities, but not as much as we’d like to think. That’s why sometimes people can’t explain or understand their behavioural actions.@ Hien Anh: Focusing on good thing and trying to avoid bad habits without appropriate self-affirmation would probably make people more pressure increasing stress. Part of the problem is we overestimate our ability to resist temptation.
The more we try and push intrusive thoughts down, the more they pop back up, stronger than ever. The trouble comes when I consciously stop trying to distract myself and the unconscious process carries on looking out for the thing I was trying to suppress. In conclusion, What we do is ultimately not only how others judge us but also how we should judge ourselves. The best way to gain self-knowledge is to carefully watch our own thoughts and behaviour by Using introspection:
• To assess what you really think and reflect who you really are.
• To work out what you think can be damaging or encouraging rumination or depressive thoughts.
• To relax for liberating - it's normal not to understand some / most aspects of yourself
• To observe well your own thoughts and behaviours at all times, then try to infer the why for greater self-knowledge. But don't push it, always use your introspection..-
