When I just finish the above question, I receive this newsletter about Master your fear from Bryan Tracy - so amazing how the law of attraction works:)... so I share that with everyone here:

    MASTER YOUR FEAR
    By Brian Tracy
Perhaps the greatest challenge you will ever face in life is the conquest of fear and the development of courage. Fear is, and always has been, the greatest enemy of mankind. When Franklin D. Roosevelt said, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself,” he was saying that the emotion of fear, rather than the realty of what we fear, is what causes us anxiety, stress, and unhappiness. When you develop the habit of courage and unshakeable self-confidence, a whole new world of possibilities opens up for you. Just imagine-what would you dare to dream or be or do if you weren't afraid of anything in the whole world?

    Develop the Habit of Courage

Fortunately, the habit of courage can be learned just as any other habit is learned, through repetition. We need to constantly face and overcome our fears to build up the kind of courage that will enable us to deal with the inevitable ups and downs of life unafraid. The starting point in overcoming fear and developing courage is to look at the factors that predispose us toward being afraid. The root source of most fear is childhood conditioning, usually associated with destructive criticism. This causes us to develop two major types of fear. These are the fear of failure, which causes us to think “I can't, I can't, I can't,” and the fear of rejection, which causes us to think “I have to, I have to, I have to.” Our fears can paralyze us, keeping us from taking constructive action in the direction of our dreams and goals.

The More You Know, the Less You Fear

Fear is also caused by ignorance. When we have limited information, our doubts dominate us. We become tense and insecure about the outcome of our actions. Ignorance causes us to fear change, to fear the unknown, and to avoid trying anything new or different. But the reverse is also true. The very act of gathering more and better information about a particular subject increases our courage and confidence in that area. You can see this in the parts of your life where you have no fear at all because you know what you are doing. You feel competent and completely capable of handling whatever happens.

    Analyze Your Fears

Once you have identified the major factors that cause you to feel afraid, the next step is to objectively define and analyze your personal fears. At the top of a clean sheet of paper, write, “What am I afraid of?” Remember, all intelligent people are afraid of something. It is normal and natural to be concerned about your physical, emotional, and financial safety and that of the people you care about. A courageous person is not a person who is unafraid. As Mark Twain said, “Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear—not absence of fear.”

    Action Exercise

Begin your list of fears by writing down everything, major and minor, that causes fear, stress, or anxiety. Think about the parts of your work or personal life where your fears might be holding you back or forcing you to stay in a job or relationship in which you are not happy. Once you have written down your fears, arrange them in order of importance, and then pick them apart one by one.

    Hi all,

This interesting question reminds me of a book I've read some years ago. It is the diary of Anne Frank.

Anne Frank was born to Jewish parents in 1929 in Frankfurt/Main. In 1933 her family fled from the terror of the Nazis to Amsterdam. Then, the Second World War broke out & the German troops invaded the Netherlands in 1940. Anne Frank and her family had to hide in the rear annex to a house in Amsterdam. There Anne Frank wrote her world-famous diary, telling the days her family, together with four others Jews, lived in bad conditions & in the constant fear of being discovered some day. And that day did come! After the betrayal of their hiding place in 1944 Anne Frank and her family were deported. Anne Frank died in 1945 in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp at the age of 15, just several days before the end of the World War II.

This true story of a young Jewish girl did make a deep impression on me and changed my way of thinking about those coming to my life. Whenever I feel the fear, I remember Anne Frank and immediately see that what I've encountered in life is not as terrible as Anne Frank did.

I also love a quote of Eleanor Roosevelt, US Former First Lady and try to apply into daily life: "You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, "I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along." . . . You must do the thing you think you cannot do."

@ Thanh: I search on google to find your recommended book and find a summary, this below part is spot on, o I share with everyone here

5 TRUTH ABOUT FEAR (by Susan jeffer)
Truth #1 - The fear will never go away as long as you continue to grow.
Truth #2 - The only way to get rid of the fear of doing something is to go out and do it.
Truth #3 - The only way to feel better about yourself is to go out…and do it! Make deposits into
    our self-confidence bank.
Truth #4 – Not only am I going to experience fear whenever I’m on unfamiliar territory, but so is
    everyone else.
Truth #5 – Pushing through the fear is less frightening than living with the underlying fear that
come from a feeling of helplessness.

With these understanding, then it;s not about overcome the fear but living peacefully with fear (as it's very much human nature) and use fear in a way that motivate you to grow

I really like all the answer in this topic. I have some crazy ideas that I used to apply when I was small to overcome my fears:
    - I feared the dark, so I went to the dark field at night alone and after several time, I get used to that
    - I feared a cruel neighbor who was drunk most of the time, so I play with his child, and get used to his sudden shouting after a while
... For now, what if I worry or fear something, I would spend most of the time to work it out. I realize that I have to action, thinking about it only worsen my fear. So in away, I think my approach is quite similar to "feel the fear n do it anyway" concept that Thanh nguyen has mentioned
