Which is the book that changes your life?

I love Last Lecturer - Randy Paush
Randy Pausch - 47-year-old computer science professor and father of three had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and had only been given three to six months to live. In a final speech to their students before dying, Pausch's speech, entitled "Achieving Your Childhood Dreams," rather than focusing on dying, it was a speech about living, about achieving one's dreams and enabling the dreams of others, about truly living each day as though it were your last. All was written in the Last Lecturer book.

When I began reading this book I thought it was just for school kids, however the more I read the more interested I became in it. The things Randy Pausch said and the stories he told not only inspired me to think of how I look at life differently but for others as well. There are many lessons you can learn from the book, for me there are 3 lessons:

Firstly, I learned how life is short and you only have so much time to enjoy before its gone, so live life fully everyday and don’t look back. Be thankful for what you have and not what you don’t have or want. It has inspired me so start living my life to the fullest and not wasting my time worrying about the little things that aren’t important. It’s inspired me to want to spend more time with my family and to spend less time arguing and complaining over the things they do. It’s taught me to really appreciate all the little things in life. In this book, Randy asked this as a favor to him. “Anybody out there who is a parent, if your kids want to paint their bedrooms, as a favor to me, let them do it.” You got it Randy!! After reading the book, I found a new sense of being. I cherish the little things more. We let our girls paint their room just as they wanted.

Secondly, I learned for business majors in “A Skill Set Called Leadership.” Section. According to Randy, favorable skills include delegating, wanting to inspire, dressing professionally, etc. Supervisors should never profess to have skills better than their subordinates. They should also be aware of what they are saying and how they are saying it. It is important to remember even the simplest comment can be taken negatively if said in the wrong way. If a supervisor approaches a situation and negates an idea right away, the employee may feel discouraged and be less likely to approach the supervisor with ideas or problems in the future. It is also important to acknowledge the skills of your subordinates and even take the opportunity to learn from them. A good leader knows their faults and is willing to attempt to better themselves in areas where they fall short.

Last lesson I have learned, any of your dreams can come true, if you fight for them. Randy Paush gave all his life lessons in less than 300 hundred pages. After I finished reading this book, it made me realize how selfish I am. I can be so ungrateful of life sometimes and he showed me how to appreciate it. You can have anything you want as long as you fight for it. A man, who didn’t choose to die, lived his life to the fullest. He gave me confidence and a purpose for living. This book will continue on touching the lives of everyone for many years to come.

.người ta thường nói "ấn tượng ban đầu thì khó phai", và đối với mình cũng vậy .cuốn sách kinh doanh đầu tiên mình đọc là "AI CHE LƯNG CHO BẠN" của tác giả Keith Ferrazzi

.thông điệp của tác giả trong cuốn sách này có lẽ rất giống mục đích thành lập cộng đồng Anphabe của chị Thanh Nguyen, là tạo ra cơ hội để mọi người có thể giao lưu và hỗ trợ lẫn nhau trong công việc lẫn đời sống

.trong cuốn sách này, Keith Ferrazzi đưa ra bí quyết giúp chúng ta tìm ra 3 người có thể thay đổi cuộc đời của mình

.và cũng như John Von, cố vấn cao cấp của Sacombank có ví mỗi con người chúng ta như một cục gạch, để căn nhà được xây lên thì mỗi viên gạch chỉ có thể kết nối với 6 viên gạch khác .và con người cũng vậy, tuy mạng lưới của một người có thể rất rộng, nhưng chỉ có 6 người thật sự là quan trọng đối với chúng ta

.cho đến tận bây giờ thì mình cũng hay đọc lại những highlights trong cuốn sách này, và mình xin trích dẫn vài định nghĩa về THÀNH CÔNG:

."thành công là khả năng tạo được những kết quả mà chúng ta thật sự tìm kiếm trong cuộc sống, chứ không phải chỉ là số tiền chúng ta kiếm được."

1. "Think & grow rich" - Napoleon Hill: Great books of Napoleon Hill after 25 years doing research from great business man worldwide, it figured out the subconsciousness & thinking style of rich people.
Generally, we can say:
" You have a great book when to buy it.
You have great plan when to read it.
You have whole world in your hands when to practice as it non-stop"

2. " Who moved my cheese (?)" - Spencer Johnson: Simple story but extremely meaningful, especially for those who want to achieve new challenges by accepting changes. Sure "in CHANGE, we can trust"

P/S: Above all, action is the most important factor to transfer all great books into your own knowledge.
"Read to understand, understand to practice, practice to share, share to succeed"
