Groupon-alike services in Vietnam
Hi all,
Can you list some Groupon-alike services in Vietnam (like muachung.com or cucre) and your opinions on them.
Of course, I've done a small research but I just want to make sure I am not missing good ones :)

i used hotdeal.com once for a resto on ly chinh thang street (forgot the name, its a new resto and the location is not really center). we had around 4 dishes and paid with 2 coupons of > 400k (i bought the coupons at ~100k/each). the food was oki except for the prices, look like they just doubled the prices while selling this coupons, ex. cơm tay cầm cá mặn normally around 50k at some resto on suong nguyet anh, and here they charged 120k. guess they can do better than that and make it really "hot deal" :)

There are many (20+ I guess:)): Muachung, nhom mua, cungmua, Zingdeal, vinadoan, hotdeal, phagia, cucre...
So far all these are having same difficulties as:
- Payment cost: All need to remain a big operation system of people who manually collect money instead of online payment
- Quality control : a lot of complain about "cheap buy, low quality product & service"
- Time & logistic control : Many people buy coupons, go to the place just to discover that place is close. Taking money back is so troublesome..To my opinion, non of them are making money now, the market is already too read...

Since 9-10/2010 the Groupon-alike has started to grow as Phagia.com.vn from PhuNuNet, Muachung.vn from VC Corp và Cucre.vn from Vatgia, nhommua.com from diadiem.com, GoDeal from vtc online, or hotdeal...
Most of the products has been sale to office users. As far as I know, Until now, only muachung.vn has some profit on this kind of services since they can solve the problem on quality, payment and logistics. And them most importance that they have the support website networks to help them fly to sky :D
As some coming up problem now is the quality poor and poor from product selling now. As you can see alot of brandnew products using them and this will be a mistake if you are using this type of product as your target suppliers... the problem on quality control.
If you are going to make one, I would like to suggest you to open a vertical site ( the site that focus on only one or some products that can ready to solve some weak point of this kind of site already to make it easier on start up )-

The infra in Vietnam is not so ready for e-commerce:
1) e-payment is still in its very beginning steps.
2) Delivery (logistic): it is all manual (labor work)
3) Trust: Most Vietnamese doesn't have mutual trustworthies and (likely), they don't keep their words :))It is shocking to hear that "none of them are making money now".
At the end of muachung's website, they have been saving (end-users') 50 bil VND :)I feel that the groupon business model is not stable, and furthermore, because of the reasons you've mentions, they are hated by merchants.
Anyway, this is an interesting business model so I'd like to here from other experts as well :)

That means, the merchants are playing tricks againts end-users.
IMO, the reason the merchants use groupon (alike) service is that, they want to advert.
There are 3 players in the game: groupon, merchants and end users.
Groupon always win with the comission.
Merchants loses, that's what they pay for the ad.
End-users win, or at least they "feel" that they get discounts :)Not looks like a fair game, huh?

nhommua seems the best choice of mine with professional customer service, quite prestigious brands. I only buy groupon of the brand and product that I'm familiar with ;-)

It really shocks me but I am just curious *why* they are not *yet* making profit.
Probably these services are new and they are still working hard on it chocking the market share from rivals.
I believe that they will make profit very soon.Payment (including e-payment) tastes like sheet in Vietnam. It is a headache thiking of it when doing e-commerce.
You can do it with e-payment (including bank transfer).Solving problem with logistic? If it is so hard, then don't do it. I'd let the merchants and end-users dealing directly.
Female, esp. *female* office users look promising :), they have time, and they want discounts :D
The problem is not only in quality control but the supply chain itslef where group-alike is a node on it, and the immature payment infra in Vietnam.
