How to make a passive income?

Passive income is not new at all in Vietnam.
You all know Mai Linh taxi and Quan an ngon or Vincom tower.
They work (hard or not) to get capital, they buy or build taxi/villa/shopping center. Then tennant or driver work all day long selling/driving. At teh end of the day driver pays Mai Linh 500,000VND, and tennant pay monthly rental fee.
If you don't have enough money to buy a car, finance a xe om you trust or lend your 2nd honda dream that you rarely use in your garage, and ask him to bring you back 50,000VND/day, x10 xe dream, you get your daily 500,000VND, right.
Great! you are now an Investor!

Tuan Bui, This is pretty new definition Vietnam in team of income. Usually talking about passive income, for the uninitiated, passive income is defined as an income stream where money is received on a regular basis without continuing effort. It can start out as hard work and then end up requiring absolutely no work at all. This is quite interesting question, I am going to sit here and see how Anphaber answer this :)Thanks Trung for mention this.

It is fairly easy in the 21st century because of Internet and it can be free with unlimited passive income.
The basic principle of getting return, any return is... You need to invest!

What is your investment? everybody think money, but there are many other ways that are "purely intellectual" like your knowledge on a topic, get passive income by a subscription to your newsletter or your e-book.
Your network, your skill to meet new people and persuasion skills, enrol to amway then enrol your downlines thren for every sales they make, get 21% nice and easy (provided you worked hard in building your 300+ downlines, buy a right like to use your bridge, pay 2,000VND, to view the stars from this romantic bridge with the girl of your dream, pay you 5000VND to use the telescope, use my Vietnamese crazy/fun font chu download for 10,000VND...
The traditional way is to invest money into a treasury bond and get interest or buy a blue chip share and get regular dividend or buy 10% share of a friends company and enjoy 10% of the profits every year...

What is your initial investment? I can tell you what you can do best to get passive income.

In my answer, I did not say NO WORK? the most important word is not EASY!

The most important is the YOUR INVESTMENT?
What is it? work, time, "chat sam" brain= knowledge or thinking -knowledge (hard work) or thinking (not too hard, this capacity you may have for sorting out problems)-.

Until you answer what it is you cannot think about any income.
I had a friend, he was excellent at Poker, as poker is not only luck, it is knowledge and calculation for 1 part. He could win most of the time. The problem was the winning money was going to party and girls. I decided to lend him money to play tournament and he pays me back 20% of gains + capital, the rest he could go party with 80%. the next day he would come back for investment money to play next tournament. The downside stop-loss rule was when playing he would stop when he loses more than 30% of the money. On a bad luck day, no investor or skilled professional can do anything!

When I read Rich dad, poor dad, I really think seriously on how to create passive income, i.e Income comes to me even when I'm not working. This book teach me to think of building system where money work hard for us instead of we hard hard for money. That's the idea, though in reality, it's not that easy that we always have Passive income opportunities. Some way that can be applied in VN are:
- Own a property and rent it (I did this and find quite happy to have this passive income every month. Though rental market now is tough, your property need to be unique to be occupied all the time)
- Multi-level marketing: Herbalife as someone mentioned can be a good idea. Though I don't have much time for this now but recommend it to everyone. But remember you really need to invest at least first 1-2 year working hard to build your system before it can generate money passively for you. And if you like fashion, I strongly recommend the new french fashion one named SHOPHIE. My friend runs this and he's doing super well
- Build a business with a strong team/ system selling product/ service that can be scalable without you having to work harder and harder. Hum, this is not very easy, I'm still very early on this strategy but I know I will be there:)
- Invest into companies (through share or stock...) and get dividend very year.
