Sau đó, Vị Giám đốc điều hành mới sẽ đến và bắt đầu dọn dẹp những đống lộn xộn khó nhằn nhất bị để lại cho công ty: doanh thu giả, các khoản nợ tồn động, không có kinh phí R&D cho có sản phẩm mới trong tương lai gần, kinh phí cho tuyển dụng nhân tài bị cắt giảm ...
P/S: Giám đốc điều hành hầu như không bao giờ từ chức khi doanh thu đang gia tăng hay trước khi các thay đổi hoàn tất, bạn hãy nhớ rằng Giám đốc điều hành có quyền mua cổ phiếu khi có giá trị cổ phiếu tăng hoặc thay đổi hoàn tất. Họ rời bỏ công ty khi công ty đang ở trạng thái tốt đẹp.

However, if the company is currently in poor business situation (and the CEO is responsible for), then changing the CEO will be a good opportunity for the company to make significant (positive) change in any area the Board think it is necessary: Corporate Strategy, Business Strategy, Operation, Management, Staff, etc.It will be very much different, if your question is: What and How to manage changes when a CEO resigns. CEO change is a big changes compared to other organizational change. Usually there can be 2 cases:
1. CEO is fired by the Board because of low performance: In this case, the organization should be put in the alarm mode too. (cause though the CEO is responsible for the whole organization bad performance, the bad results also caused by the organization itself too). Hence the most important behavior required is each department would review their own performance ; honestly take responsibility to find where the unsatisfying results is and make the plan to work hard to improve
2. CEO is ending his term and the Board has find the new CEO: This case is much more positive compared to the other. Change is inevitable when the CEO changes. Each individual brings their own values, style and business biases to the job and CEO's typically set the cultural tone of the organization.

Unless we are talking about Donald Trump, a CEO change really has minimal effect on an orginisation IF it is well run. A CEO is there to manage his direct reports and if they are empowered to make decisions, then the effect is mostly about perception rather than actual. Bill Gates was the driving force behind Microsoft, not much has changed. The same will be true of Steve Jobs' departure from Apple.
CEO's are there to work on the business, not in the business. Very rarely do they (nor are they expected) know exactly what is going on with every department, and if he does, then i would question whether he is an effective CEO.
The greatest change will be that the remaining management team will have to learn to manage the new CEO. Yes, I said, MANAGE the new CEO. The real work in management is not managing your staff, its managing your manager and his / her expectations. So in reality, the people that are most affected by the departure of a CEO is the HoD's who have to learn to adapt to the management style of the new CEO.
