  • I think to manage Human or System ...should do same as pyramid shape. In small group 20 you do directly to each person. But in case, your company 100 you should do directly to 5 to 10 group leaders ONLY. And now you should beleive/require/encourage ...10 group leaders do well what you want. If 10 leaders are closely to each other, are strickly and professionaly, all people in your company will do same as their leaders and what you want. On the contrary, you should look back your group learder, sometimes you should change if they do not try.

    In a production company, discipline is necessary, because it is the base of productivity. Arrive on time, do your work as it is on manual guide, produce quality and quantity.
    In a knowledge company, time and place does not matter really. Google encourage people eating and working in common place, take 1 day/week develop projects or their own interest... I guess it is even more encouraged in Advertising company. You never know where the bright idea will come from, if it is in an art gallery creative staff got their best ideas, let them go. Did the google maps idea came from the office or else, share docs chit chatting at the coffee shop?
    Of course the code of conduct with clients needs to be enforced, the code of conduct in the company is Deliver results! whatever the number of staff...
