What's the one thing/event/decision in the past that you regret the most? If you could, would you go back and change it??
They say that a life is best lived without any regrets, that we should embrace every action and choice with passion. That even if something didn't work out as you had intended or imagined, you shouldn't regret. Yet, regret we do. I think it's a very human, natural thing to feel regret about actions we've taken in the past, or choices we look at now that we wish we could've made differently. So having said that, what's the one thing/event/decision that has occurred in the past that you regret the most? If you could, would you go back and change it?? Why or why not?

Starting smoking.
I've done a lot of other regrettable things in my life but apart from that one, I can honestly say it's all been an integral part of making up the fabric of who I am. Mistakes make us human and if you obliterated them you'd possibly wipe out the best part of your personality. I can't see any positive in becoming addicted to ciggarettes though.

I regret not getting higher education which would have led to a better lifestyle through higher earnings. I regret not living in the present and at times looking back at the past or projecting into the future rather than focusing on the present. I regret uniformed decisions I made when I was young. As I grow older, I realize I was not as smart as I thought I was and I regret not seeking advice from those who were older and wiser. I regret I had no guidance. I regret I did not enjoy my younger years and was caught up in drama and uncertainty. I regret I now have to deal with younger adults who are just like me when I was young who are caught up in drama and a lot of it has to do with lack of education and finances.

I have done plenty of stupid things and while it probably would have been better not to do them I agree with Vuong Hoang that those things helped define me. The failure is less important than how we recover from the failure.
I think the only things we should regret are those that we are doing now that we should change. Be it a lack of exercise or smoking or drinking too heavily. The regret should motivate us to change those bad habits we have today.
If I could have done things differently I may have taken more time when I was young and realized that I had time to grow my career. I would probably have taken the time to explore more fields and possibly opportunities that I thought were beyond my grasp. Of course I would have been a different person, which may not have been good, so I don't regret it at all.
@Trang Huynh - Age is all relative, to me you are in your younger years, to the 80 year old I am in my younger years -- of course when I am 80 I will be searching for the 100 year old to tell me I am in my younger years ^_^ So make the most out of what you see today. Try something new that you always wanted to do and don't worry about the drama of younger people - they will learn soon enough.

Only thing I've really regretted in life was telling a guy who I used to be friends with in High School that I thought he was a fucking dickhead and didn't want to hang out with him anymore. I don't regret dumping him as a mate because he really was the most annoying person you could ever imagine but I could have done it in more of a nice way rather than being such a cruel thoughtless prick. It wasn't just me, our whole posse was in on it. It was bullying and I've never felt like that much of a cunt before. Since then I've always tryed to treat people well.
