Positioning strategy for a new digital brand?

Assume that you are going to launch a new online service for a local market that has looks briefly like other top global ones (such as social network has facebook, search engine has Google, video hosting has Youtube, B2B has Alibaba...), what should be our business strategy, offering strategy (e.g. values proposition,...) and brand positioning strategy to win the local market?

Tools help develop a brand positioning. And you should use several of them. A good start is to analyze the existing value of your brand. Next you can try Porter's 5-forces model, and SWOT analyses. Interview your management team, they know a lot about your business and market. Next, look into your consumer's experience by auditing their purchasing / engagement journey. Organize your customers into segments and sub-segments. Next, create mappings of consumer's perceptions of important attributes within your industry. Finally, check major trend-tracking services to understand what are the trends that are likely to drive consumer choice in the next 5 years. Finally, assess the communications of your competitors, so you understand their positioning clearly. At this point you should see the open positions in the market. Pick one and own it! If all this seems a bit overwhelming, just take it one step at a time. Working on it daily with a small team you can finish in about two weeks.
